The Genealogy Geek: CREATE A FAMILY HISTORY BOOK

Whether you have gathered all your information, photos and documents or you want to start from scratch, I can help you put your information into a family history book containing your lineage, images, stories, and historical documents, all arranged into an heirloom you will be proud of sharing with your family and friends. 

I have experience creating family history books beginning with something simple like a basic comb-bound book printed at a local commercial printer to printing my family history which is several hundred pages from at an outsourced vendor. 

All genealogy research will be provided in an ahnentafel format which is a genealogical numbering system for listing a person’s direct ancestors in a fixed sequence of ascent.  

This system provides a chronological historical summary of a family’s ancestors and organizes the vital records, census records, residences, work history, military service, plus other pertinent information.  

A digital file will be sent to you. If you wish for a printed copy, copying fees and postage will apply.

If you have an existing Ancestry.com account or would like to create one we can use this format for developing and storing all existing data, photo and documents. 

The tree will be housed on Ancestry.com in an account managed by you. You do not need a paid Ancestry subscription. You will grant me editor access and I will use my own subscription to do my research.

Once your research is completed to your satisfaction; regardless if you have done it yourself or by someone else, it is nice to have it in a format that is readily shareable to your family. 

BASIC - Printed and bound at a local print shop

The first style which is the least expensive is the basic comb-bound book. I can help you design a cover that suits your taste and format it into a aesthetically pleasing book.

BETTER - Printed and bound through an online service such as Shutterfly, MyCanvas, My Publisher and Legacy Books.

MyCanvas and My Publisher are helpful tools if you do your family history work on Ancestry.com, as it integrates directly with the Ancestry website. I can help you to research these sites and determine which will work best for you. 

BEST - CUSTOM

This style is more comprehensive and is usually more complex. This is a perfect bound book and is cheaper the more books you have produced, though one book can be produced. Before printing I will provide an estimate (based on number of pages and if the images are black and white vs. colored.)

When you submit digital photographs and documents, they must be in .jpeg or .TIFF format and black and white. 

Additional fees will apply for the following:

• Scanning any photos or documents (all photos and documents are returned after scanning)
• Reformatting digital images (ex: colored to b/w, .jpeg/.tiff)

If you wish to have colored images in your book, the cost of the book will increase.

Once I have reviewed your information request and spoken to you regarding the expected outcome, I will provide you with a proposed book creation fee.
